An HPM (Hand Painted Multiple) is an archival pigment print on cotton rag, which is then hand painted with additional details by Mikael B. This means every piece is truly unique.
With my abstract paintings I’m creating unexpected results. I would apply a multi-colored faded sprayed background as the first layer, before I continue with several acrylic layers of gestural brush strokes.
But not this time.
I was mixing some new colors and wanted to see how the palette of colors complimented each other on a blank white canvas . So I pulled out a blank canvas and started experimenting…and I liked how the colors would blend on the blank canvas as the very first layer. I was in the zone now. I pulled out 3 more canvases and continued to experiment with this idea. It was a new feeling and it really challenged me with the composition. But I knew a new series of paintings was born.
