ABOUT

MIKAEL B.

Mikael B transforms impressions, emotions, and experiences into an abstract visual language charged with energy, movement, and possibility. Working primarily with spray paint and acrylic, he creates conceptual works that exist somewhere between urban contemporary art, fine art, and abstraction.

His unmistakable style is deeply rooted in his early years as a graffiti artist. Rather than following traditional conventions, Mikael has continuously developed his own artistic universe — one defined by explosive colors, fragmented structures, organic forms, and an ongoing tension between chaos and control.

The works are deliberately open to interpretation. They invite the viewer to step inside and discover landscapes, dimensions, and emotions of their own. Mikael draws on references ranging from Baroque drama and Cubist geometry to graffiti, graphic design, and the natural world, translating them into a distinctly contemporary expression.

Raised on Tuse Næs, west of Copenhagen, Mikael showed a strong need to express himself visually from an early age. What began as drawings during school hours soon developed into experiments with spray paint on large wooden boards in his parents’ backyard. As a teenager, he became part of Copenhagen’s graffiti scene, painting hundreds of walls under the name KETS.

His passion for color, form, and visual communication led him to study graphic design. Before completing his training, however, Mikael left to establish the design agency IDentity Provided together with his twin brother and later manager, Morten. The agency became successful, but the ambition to pursue art never disappeared.

That ambition became a reality in 2014, when Mikael created an abstract world map titled “Vibrant World.” A photograph of the work went viral and reached more than one million people, generating demand from across the world. The brothers sold their agency, and Mikael moved to Los Angeles to dedicate himself fully to his artistic career.

In the years that followed, Mikael created large-scale murals and projects for international companies and brands including Google, LinkedIn, Nike, American Express, Mercedes-Benz, and The Black Eyed Peas. His work was presented in exhibitions across Europe and the United States, leading to sold-out solo shows in Copenhagen and Los Angeles and appearances during Miami Art Week.

His 2018 Copenhagen exhibition, “Never Tomorrow,” marked an important turning point and became his largest solo presentation at the time. This was followed by exhibitions with Taglialatella Galleries in New York and Toronto and a collaboration with Maddox Gallery in West Hollywood, where his 2021 solo exhibition “Flow State” introduced a new body of work alongside his first bronze sculpture.

In 2022, Mikael returned to Copenhagen with “The Evolution of Everything,” a major solo exhibition at The Plant. The exhibition explored transformation, human potential, and the belief that everything can evolve from nothing. The concept later continued internationally at Context Art Miami during Miami Art Week.

In 2024, Mikael participated in “Street Art Icons” with Goldman Global Arts, an international group exhibition celebrating influential artists and the continuing evolution of contemporary street art.

In 2026, Mikael presented his most ambitious project to date: “OMNIA – Immersive Art Experience” in Copenhagen. Spanning more than 1,000 square metres across five distinct rooms and installations, OMNIA transformed his paintings into a living environment of monumental projections, sound, movement, UV light, and reflections. Alongside more than 30 new original works, the exhibition invited almost 30,000 visitors to physically step inside Mikael’s artistic universe.

Throughout his career, Mikael has continued to challenge the boundaries between painting, design, architecture, technology, and immersive experience. Whether expressed on canvas, across a building, through sculpture, or within an entire exhibition space, his work is driven by the same fundamental idea: that art should not only be observed, but felt.
