“Creating “Our World” made me reflect more deeply about my art practice and how my paintings come to life.
Before the act of painting unfolds, I usually go through a lot of preparation. I’m always in constant search to pursue and unleash my absolute best, and I found out that most of times it comes with preparation.
This preparation can involve choosing and mixing the right colors, planning and sketching various compositions, or simply sitting and staring at the blank canvas, disconnecting from the world and disappearing into my own.
These non-painting activities are crucial to my art practice. They’re about creating the best possible conditions for me to perform at my absolute best and paint something that I truly love and can be proud of. It’s about staying true to my vision, no matter what.
All my decisions are guided by pure intuition, untouched by external noise.
When I paint it’s a journey into the unkown and I simply won’t stop until the composition and balance is exactly how I want it. The funny thing here is that I do not know what I’m looking for when I start, but it slowly reveals itself as I paint and everything unfolds.
I do put a lot of pressure on myself and I set the standard extremely high, and that’s the space where I thrive and unlock my full potential. That’s where I find out what I’m truly capable of.
I think in essence, painting is a dialogue between my deepest self and the canvas, and when I enter that flow state all that’s left is the pure, untamed act of creation.
It is when I’m not thinking I’m doing my best work.
My goal of isn’t to reach perfection, it’s to express who I am, where I am on my journey, and how I see the world… Our World.”
